Instagram Stories not loading : How to Fix

Are you experiencing problems trying to access stories from other users, or even publish your own through the Instagram application?

Do not worry, you’re not the only one, and we possibly have the solution to the kind of problem you’re encountering. Discover 13 problems and reasons why your stories do not carry.

There are several possibilities that can bring this type of problem while we use social networks. Sometimes one of the solutions below may even serve other problems encountered with other applications.

Even if you can not solve it, do not worry, at the bottom of the list we’ll teach you how to report a problem directly through the app!

1. Unstable connection

One of the most common problems, when our stories do not load, is some connection failure. Be it an unstable, slow, or even inactive connection. Sometimes provider issues can affect our connectivity even when we appear online, such as DNS errors, among others.

To resolve this, please try to restart your Wi-Fi connection if it is active. If you are using mobile data, disable them and re-enable them for a moment. Another more practical way to restart all your connection features is to enable airplane mode and then disable it.

You have Wi-Fi networks available but you can not connect because you do not know the password? See some Android apps that can help you!

2. Locked Application

Sometimes Instagram itself may present problems and be the reason why its stories do not carry. Even though it does not crash completely, the application may be having some undue behavior. Try to close it completely, forcing your stop. To do this on the iPhone just slide the screen to the left. On Android, follow the steps below.

Step 1: First, go to the  Settings of your device and then locate the Applications icon. When opening this section, look in the list by Instagram, as indicated in the image.

Step 2:  Open Instagram and tap  Force Stop, a new screen will appear informing you that this will completely shut down the application and it may malfunction. Do not worry, this is a generic warning, and in this case, it will not affect how it works. Confirm the stop and then open Instagram normally.

With application reopened from scratch, try loading your stories again!

3. Old Version of Instagram App

Another common problem that can make your stories not load is a version error. That is, your Instagram application is outdated. Do not worry, the procedure for updating any of your applications is simple. For iOS devices, this can be done in the  App Store. On Android, open  Google Play and then slide the screen from left to right.

In the new window that will appear, tap My Apps & Games as shown in the screenshot below. Then a window with all applications that need to be updated will open. If Instagram is in the list, simply hit Refresh and wait for your smartphone to do the rest. Remember, you must be connected to the Internet to update applications.

4. Inappropriate content

Instagram is able to identify content even before it is published. This may be one reason your stories do not carry. Make sure the content of your image or video is not against the terms of use of the platform.

Pay close attention to this, offensive posts that go against what the social network allows can result in penalties, blockages and even where your account is banned from Instagram.

5. Problem with smartphone

It may seem unlikely, but maybe something is not working as it should on your Android or iOS smartphone. In this case, try restarting it normally by holding down the power button, pressing  Shutdown and then turning it on. This procedure is simple and often turns out to be the solution to several problems in different applications or situations.

6. Full cache

Every app stores cached information, this is a section for fast loading into your smartphone’s memory. Sometimes this cache may end up giving an error, or it may be too heavy for your device to process under certain conditions. So clear the Instagram cache and then retry loading your stories.

To do that, it’s quite simple. For iPhones and iPads, completely uninstall the app and reinstall it from the App Store. On Android, go to the same app screen and open Instagram as explained in tip # 2 of this article. Here, press the Clear Cache button as indicated in the image below.

7. Installation Error

Sometimes it is possible that the application gives the installation message completed successfully but either because of a connection interruption or a file transfer failure, it may end up corrupted. Sometimes these errors are not critical enough to cause the application not to open, giving a false idea that everything is right.

But when you try to use certain features, your app may end up locking itself, locking, etc. Luckily, fixing this is really simple. Uninstall the application completely from your device and download it again, this time with a secure connection, through  Google Play or the App Store.

8. Share directly through the gallery

If you’re having trouble sharing a story from the Instagram app, try doing the same from your gallery. Take your picture or record your video outside the app, then open it in your smartphone’s gallery and follow the steps below for Android smartphones.

Step 1: First, select the photo, image or video you want to publish in your stories on Instagram. After opening it, tap the screen and click the share button as indicated by the arrow below.

Step 2: A selection will open with all applications in which you can share the image. Look for the Instagram icon that Stories has written. Select it and you will be taken to the default Instagram post setup menu, where you can edit the photo, add the best filter, or mark locations.

9. Set the device’s date and time

This may seem strange, but it is one of the possible reasons why your stories do not carry. Make sure your smartphone’s date and time are correct, and preferably updated automatically. This error is common especially when we travel and access the Internet through different IPs.

To check this, on the iPhone or iPad go to Settings, then tap General and select Date and Time. Here, make sure the auto-configure option is active.

On Android, the procedure is similar. Go to Settings, find the Date and Time option and also activate the automatic adjustment option.

10. Incorrect user

This is an unlikely problem, but it can happen especially when we borrow the cell phone or share it with others. First of all, check if your account logged in to the application is correct, and is the same one connected in the browser through the smartphone. If it is not, just leave the wrong account and try to post again.

11. Cell phone in an economy mode

This is one of the common reasons why your stories do not carry. If your smartphone is in economy mode, it may prevent some applications or features from being accessed, trying to keep the device as long as possible. Just check if the battery saving mode is active.

On the iPhone or iPad, go to Settings and then select Battery. Here, make sure the Low Power Mode box is active or not. If so, try deactivating it and posting your story again.

On Android, follow the steps below.

Step 1:  Open the Settings panel of your smartphone, then look for the Battery option , as shown in the image below.

Step 2: Here, touch the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the screen and then select  Battery saving, pointed by the red arrow. On the next screen just check whether the option is active or not. If so, turn it off momentarily and try uploading your Stories again.

12. Incompatible file format

This may be why your stories do not load if you’re trying to post a video. Remember that the limits of Instagram are files of at most 15 MB, and ideally should be in mp4 format. Also, its duration cannot exceed 1 minute, its frame rate per second should be 30, not 60, and the maximum width of the video should not exceed 1080 pixels.

13. Report a problem

If none of the solutions still work and still your stories do not load, this time to check the Instagram support center, look for your error. If you can not find it, you can also report a problem through the app itself. To do this, follow the steps below.

Step 1:  Open your Instagram and go to the main page of your profile. Here, click on the icon with 3 lines as indicated by the red arrow.

Step 2:  Then click  Settings at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: Look for the support section, then tap  Report a problem. In this menu, you can include screenshots, like some error or simply the screen locked when your stories do not load. Describe your problem and send it, wait until the problem stops or the staff sends you an email about the situation.
