When you use Windows, the most common task to be performed on the computer is to open the program to use it, which when minimized, end up getting on the taskbar. There, when you hover over an icon of them, you have access to a preview of what would be happening inside the program, but that sometimes end up disturbing the visualization of another task.
By default, Windows brings no way to disable these auto-generated previews, but this can be circumvented with a few tricks within the system. Here’s how to remove the preview of programs that are minimized in the Windows 10 taskbar:

The method shown below to hide the preview of programs in the taskbar involves the change in a system registry. Before proceeding, as a precaution, it is recommended that you create a restore point and back up the important files on your machine.
How to hide the preview of minimized programs
The change that will be displayed works on any version of Windows 10 Home and Professional, that is, even if your system is not upgraded, you can still perform the following process. Here’s how:
- Press the “Win + R” keys to open the execute window and enter the command: regedit. Press “Enter”;
- On the Windows Registry Editor screen, from the left menu, navigate to this path: Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced;
- This time, in the right part of the window, right click on a blank space and select the option “New> DWORD Value (32 Bits);
- Give the name of ExtendedUIHoverTime to the value created;
- Now double-click on it and set its value to “30000”;
- Restart the computer”.
- Ready! After you have restarted the computer, hovering over one of the programs that are minimized in the taskbar, you will see only your name without that preview showing what was happening inside the program.
