Apple dominates the premium segment of smartphones: Know the 5 best selling brands

The latest report by market analysts at Counterpoint Research shows that Apple maintains dominance in the premium smartphone segment. In the first half of 2019, the company achieved a market share of 47%.

This source takes into account all models with a price higher than 400 dollars. Compared to the same period of 2018, Apple lost 20% in sales. Even so, the apple company retains a 22% advantage over the second-ranked in this segment-Samsung.

Samsung second. OnePlus alongside Google

  • Apple-47%
  • Samsung-25%
  • Huawei-16%
  • OnePlus-2%
  • Google-2%
  • Other brands-8%

Counterpoint data brings some important information. In this period, the market decreased by 8% overall. In the case of Apple, the value of descent is 20%. The biggest reason for this is that users switch iPhone on average every 3 years. In the past, they did it every two years.

North American market represents 30% of global numbers

The markets with the largest sales volume remain the North American (30%) and the Chinese (26%). It turns out to be quite interesting as a brand like OnePlus presents itself with a market share quite similar to that of Google.

These are data for the first half of 2019 and reflect a declining premium market. The figures presented by Huawei are significant, and it should be borne in mind that they are prior to the latest controversy between the Chinese company and banishment in the United States.

The premium segment is where the brands are looking for more profit, and within the top of the range, iPhones still occupy a prominent place. The Galaxy S10 is, however, considered by Counterpoint as superior in price-quality compared to Apple’s models.
