Here we are! Xiaomi Mi Band 4 was officially presented. Without wasting time, let’s go immediately to discover the price, features, and novelties of Xiaomi Mi Band 4, one of the most anticipated products of 2019.
What changes between Xiaomi Mi Band 4 and Xiaomi Mi Band 3?
The differences are not many.
The new model mounts:
- a larger battery (135 vs 110 mAh)
- 0,95 ″ AMOLED display with 120 × 240 pixel resolution and 16,000 colors (real news). The touch surface is 40% larger than the previous model, and more space also brings with it new features (multimedia playback control)
- voice assistant (to understand if it works also in Italian) that works through an integrated microphone
- Bluetooth 5.0
- water resistance up to 5 ATM
But let’s analyze the product in detail.
Design
As expected, aesthetically Xiaomi Mi Band 4 does not differ much from the previous model and largely incorporates the design and arrangement of the elements.
Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is composed of a central body, with hardware components inside, and a soft rubber strap.
The straps are available in four colors: Black, Blue, Brown, Orange, and Pink.
On the lower part, it houses the connectors for charging and the sensor for measuring heartbeats, while on the upper part the color display, which supports input via touch, and a useful touch button to turn on the display and return to the main screen.
The display reads well under the sun, as opposed to the previous model.

The technical sheet of Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is definitely complete:

As you can see, it does NOT have GPS.
Battery
Despite the color screen, the device has a declared autonomy of about 20 days. We’ll see if the company’s promises will be respected.
Software
The software is more or less the same as seen on board the previous model, plus some new features.
We will have the possibility to read text messages, to receive notifications from the smartphone, to count steps, to measure heartbeats using the PPG heart rate monitor, to record sleep and the kilometers traveled, to set alarms, to visualize calories burned and the weather forecast, to monitor physical activity (running indoors, running outdoors, exercise, swimming, cycling and walking) and, of course, to display the date and time.
In addition to these features already seen in the past, there are two welcome new features. We can:
- control music playback on the smartphone
- automatically lock the smartband when removed from the wrist
There is also the possibility to change the main screen through the wide selection of colored watch faces made available by Xiaomi.
XiaoAI voice assistant
Compared to the previous model, the differences all reside in the presence of a kind of voice assistant (controllable with integrated microphone) that allows:
- set alarms
- turn on and off smart bulbs
- control air conditioners, vacuum cleaner robots, etc.
Price and availability
Xiaomi Mi Band 4 arrives in from June $33 to $50. You can buy on the online store, Mi Store, Unieuro and Amazon.
The version available for our market is the one without the NFC support that is intended for the Chinese market only.
