The tamper protection feature is new and is meant to prevent applications or other users from changing Windows 10 security settings.
In Windows 10, the Windows Security control panel includes the settings to manage all the security features included in the operating system, such as Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, and more.
As of the May 2019 (version 1903) update, Windows includes a new feature called ‘Tamper Protection’ that was designed to protect the security features of Windows 10 from tampering with unauthorized changes that were not made through the panel itself of control.
This new feature adds an extra layer of security to Windows but can create some difficulties when using tools such as PowerShell or the Command Line that are prevented from making changes to the Windows 10 security system.
If you need to make changes to the security features of Windows there is a simple way to turn on and off the ‘Tamper Protection’ feature.
Let’s see how it works:
Go to the ‘Start‘ menu.
To open the control panel you have two options: type ‘Security’ and open the control panel directly from the menu, or click the gear that is on the left side of the ‘Start’ menu.
Then click on ‘Updates and security’ and on ‘Windows Security’ that is in the column on the left side of the window.
Click the virus and Threat Protection’.
In the next window, under ‘Virus and Threat Protection’, click ‘Manage Settings’.
In the next window, scroll until you see ‘Protection against adulteration’.
You can turn the feature on and off through the switch.
