How to Sync passwords on all your devices (Android, iOS, Mac and Windows)

Let’s use the free Bitwarden app to always have the passwords of all our accounts online on the various devices we use, from the smartphone to the PC.

1 – Installation

To begin the process, go to bitwarden.com and scroll down to the section that allows you to download the application, taking into account the operating system of your computer (Windows, MacOS, and Linux).

2 – Create a user account

After installation, you must start your user session. If this is your first time using the app, you will need to create an account, which is required to use the app on the various devices. Just enter your e-mail, choose a strong password, and create a hint about your password, should you ever forget it and need to recover it.

3 – Getting to know the interface

As soon as you log in, you will have access to the main application interface, which is divided into three columns: the main one that identifies the type of data stored; a center for the research of items; and another, on the right, to view the chosen contents. To facilitate organization, we recommend creating folders specific to each type of data you enter.

4 – Enter data

To add data, you just need to click on the ‘+’ symbol in the middle column and fill in the fields in the right column, choosing the type of information you want to include, such as a bank card, then filling in everything that is requested by the app. In the end, you should click on the floppy disk icon to ensure that everything is saved.

5 – Use in the PC

After inserting the first data, you can try if they are correct, and if they can be used in your day today. For example, if you’ve entered data for your preferred email service, such as Google’s Gmail, open this site and enter the access data by copying the information entered into the tool. You can use this process for other situations that require your data, such as paying for online purchases or completing questionnaires.

6 – Browser Extension

To facilitate the use of this tool, you can use an extension in the browser, to simplify the filling of the data in the pages that you visit. To do this, you must return to the bitwarden.com page and download the extension corresponding to the Internet browser you use. Unlike the PC tool, these shortcuts will redirect you to the application and extension store page of each browser, where you must then accept the installation of the compatible Bitwiseen extension.

7 – Using the extension

From now on, whenever you need to access a Web page that requires access data or to facilitate the payment of an online purchase, the whole process will be facilitated thanks to the extension of Bitwarden – just click on the icon of the extension and search inside the tab ‘My Safe’ for the data necessary to fill the page where you are. Each option can include up to three shortcuts: access the stored page directly, copy the user name and copy the password.

8 – Mobile tool

As stated earlier, this tool allows you to synchronize your data between devices, including mobile devices, so you should install the application on your Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS) smartphone or tablet.

Like the extension for browsers, you can also open the page corresponding to your option, as well as copy the username and password. You can also associate your fingerprint to make it easier to unlock the application or generate a two-step login to strengthen security in accessing it and your data.
