How to stop Windows 10 from sending activity history

Often, when using any operating system, regardless of your choice, information about your activities is sent to some companies. In Windows 10, at the time you are installing the OS, or even later, you can configure some options to give you more privacy.

Despite this, a Reddit user eventually discovered and shared a topic that, even disabling some options in Windows, their data continues to be sent without their consent. Fortunately, to circumvent at least a little of this situation in relation to the “Activity History”, there are some extra settings to be made to preserve your privacy. Check out:

Preparing the setup

To do this configuration in Windows there are two methods available. The first, which is simpler, is to edit a local group policy option. Check out:

  1. Press the “Win + R” keys together to open the “Run” window and use the following command: gpedit.msc;
  2. In the “Local Group Policy Editor” window, enter the following path: “Computer Settings> Administrative Templates> System> OS Policies”;
  3. Here you have a few options, but the most important is “Allow publishing of User Activities”. Double-click on it;
  4. In the window that opens, check the option “Disabled”. Once this is done, click “Apply” and “Ok”;
  5. Restart the computer.

Back in the “Local Group Policy Editor” screen, it may also be interesting to repeat the same process as above with the “Enable Activity feed” and “Allow user activity upload” options. The other items that appear in the place would only have an effect if the options related to the “User activities” were active. So you do not have to make changes to them.

Ready! Once you have completed all these steps, you will submit less information related to “User Activities” in Windows. However, remember that you will not be able to use the timeline function effectively while these items are disabled.
