How to remove Bing results from the Windows Start menu 10

When it was released, Windows 10 sought to innovate compared to its predecessor bringing many new features and even the classic Start menu back, with some changes, of course. Although this last change was positive, it also brought some cumbersome functions, which can not be disabled by conventional methods.

One such change, for example, is for Bing, Microsoft’s search service, which displays its results in the Start menu when looking for something that is not actually on the PC. Next, check out how to remove Bing results from searches made in the Start menu.

Important

Before proceeding with the procedure below, as this is an unofficial change to the system, it is recommended that you back up your important files. In addition, if possible, also perform a restore point.

How to remove Bing results from the Start menu

As mentioned above, the process to remove these Bing results is not done in the traditional way, and it is necessary to make some changes to the Windows 10 registry. See:

  1. Press the “Win + R” keys together to open the execute window and type: regedit. Press “Enter”;
  2. From the menu on the left side of the screen, enter the following path: KEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Search;
  3. Now, in a blank space, right-click and go to “New> DWORD Value (32-bit);
  4. Put the name “BingSearchEnabled” and leave it with value “0”;
  5. Go back to Registry Editor by double-clicking on “CortanaConsent”;
  6. Set its value to “2”;
  7. Restart the computer.

After you have restarted your computer, you should no longer see the Bing results when you open the Start menu. If you want to put them back, you will have to reopen the Windows Registry Editor and change the value of “BingSearchEnabled” to “1”.
