Microsoft will stop support of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8

The Microsoft has already announced some time ago the end of the updates for Windows 8 and its mobile aspect, the Windows Phone 8. The start date was set for 2023, but at the beginning of the year the company moved ahead with this schedule and now starts to stick to it: as of this week, the software will gradually lose application updates, security packages, and support. The date for the ultimate death is December 31 of this year.

Evidence that this was about to happen could already be seen on Friday (28), when Facebook and Facebook Messenger simply disappeared from the Windows Phone Windows Store without notice. On computers, just like on smartphones, what is working will continue to run, but nothing will be revised from now on. All Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 devices are affected.

The recommendation, for both smartphones and desktop computers, is for all consumers to switch their systems to Windows 10-though even that will not “save” the company’s ostracism phones anytime soon.
