How to install WhatsApp on Windows 10 PC

Want to use WhatsApp on your computer? If you have Windows 10 installed on your machine, you can download a version of the messaging application that works directly on Microsoft’s operating system without having to use a browser like the WhatsApp Web.

WhatsApp Desktop, available from the Microsoft Store, works more or less like the WhatsApp Web: it is not standalone and needs the cell phone nearby, but it is very useful for those who want to make the most of the application by typing with a physical keyboard, for example in instead of the virtual phone.

It’s not difficult to get started with WhatsApp Desktop. Below we have selected some basic tips for those who want to enjoy the messenger on Windows 10 PC. Check out the suggestions below:

Getting started with WhatsApp Desktop

  • Install WhatsApp on your computer

To get started, you need to download the Windows 10 application. Do this from the Microsoft Store from this link.

  • Open the WhatsApp application on your phone and look for the “WhatsApp Web”
  • It is hidden in the menu with three dots in the upper right corner of the screen on Android. On the iPhone, the tool can be found under “Settings”;
    • Touch “Scan QR Code”

    The application will open the camera of the mobile. Then just point the sensor on your smartphone to the code that appears on the computer screen and you’re done – you can start chatting with WhatsApp contacts from the desktop.

    WhatsApp Desktop only mirrors the contents of the mobile phone to the computer, so you need to have your smartphone always connected to the internet to use the service – whether on a Wi-Fi network or on the mobile internet.

  • Exiting WhatsApp Desktop

    WhatsApp Desktop needs to be disabled: otherwise, anyone accessing the application on your computer will be able to read your messages. When you finish using it, it is good to leave the service to ensure that no intruder reads what they should not. To quit WhatsApp Desktop, just follow the steps below:

    • Open WhatsApp;
    • Go to Settings, if your device is an Android, or Settings if it’s an iOS;
    • Go into WhatsApp Web and tap the Exit all computers option.

    After that, any previously established session will be interrupted and you will have to scan the QR code on your mobile phone as soon as you open WhatsApp on your computer again.
