How to Fix the “Server Error” on Google Play Store

The most useful app on any Android device, be it smartphone or tablet, is by far the official store, the Google Play Store. The place where you can download all types of Apps, from games, tools, wallpapers and everything you can wish and imagine. However … sometimes we come across a troubling message, the “Server Error”, even though being connected to the Internet this message may appear.

Admittedly, there are more apps stores for the Android operating system, or you can simply download the APKs and manually install each one on your device but I do not think anyone will question the convenience and ease of use of the official store for this operating system.

The Google Play Store is already installed on all Android smartphones with the exception of countries where Google services are banned (such as in China and Myanmar, for example).

Well, if this Google Play Store were not an App (application) like any other Android, from time to time you will get some errors, most of them easily workable. Next, we’ll give you some methods to solve the “Server Error”.

Check your Android connection to the Internet

This will be the most common cause of “Server Error” and also the easiest to resolve. If you’re connected through a Wi-Fi connection try opening Google Chrome or another browser simply to see if you’re somehow connected to the internet.

Alternatively, try activating the data connection and re-check the Play Store. Likewise, if you were initially connected through the data connection then try a Wi-Fi connection in the hope of resolving this “Server Error”.

Restart your Android

The oldest solution in the book is also one of the simplest. Stop whatever you’re doing and reboot your Android. From time to time, from month to month you should restart the device and this way you can solve the “Server Error”.

Clear Cache and Google Play Store Memory

  1. Go to Settings – Apps
  2. Scroll to find the Google Play Store
  3. Loads in “storage/memory”
  4. Clears/erases memory and then does the same with Cache
  5. Restart your Android

Stops the Google Play Store

  1. Go to Settings – Apps
  2. Scroll until you find the Play Store
  3. Click on Force Closing
  4. You return to the home screen and open the Store again, this may correct the error.

Remove Google account from the device

This is a bit more drastic step, but you should solve the “Server Error” once and for all. You will then be added to your account again. To do so follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings then Accounts
  2. Within Accounts select the Google account
  3. Choose the account associated with your Play Store
  4. On the next screen click on the three dots that will be located in the upper right corner and select the option “Remove account”.
  5. After removing the account clears the store memory and cache, as mentioned in the prior art.
  6. Restart your device
  7. Go Accounts and re-add your Google Account
  8. It reopens the Store, everything should be working properly by this time.

Uninstall some update from the Play Store

  1. Go to Settings – Apps
  2. Scroll until you find the Play Store
  3. Select Disable
  4. A pop-up window will appear asking for your confirmation, proceed.
  5. Once the updates are removed the “Disable” button will be replaced by “Activate”, press it.
  6. Wait a while until everything is up to date again.
  7. Open the Play Store, everything should work properly.

I hope these tips are helpful and help you resolve the Server Error if this happens on your Android device.
