Use this Microsoft extension to protects you from malicious websites

When surfing Internet it is necessary to take care not to be infected by viruses and other types of threats present in it. To avoid this type of problem there are some solutions that can be extensions, security suites, and other items.

Thinking about user safety, Microsoft has created an extension, which in conjunction with Windows Defender is able to give you security when navigating potentially dangerous sites. Here’s how to use the Microsoft extension to safely navigate Chrome and Firefox with Edge’s help.

How it works

Although extensions have been developed for Chrome and Firefox, the opening process takes place on Microsoft Edge in a sandbox, a kind of environment that does not let your machine data and other information be accessed. So every time the extension detects that a site is dangerous, it should open the other browser in this protected mode.

Installing the application

Unlike most extensions, this Microsoft add-on cannot run the entire process alone. So, for it to work properly, you must install the Windows Defender Application Guard application, which can be obtained from the Microsoft Store through this link. Before proceeding with the download, make sure that your Windows 10 has at least the April 2018 update, which has the number 1803.

How to Install the Application Guard Extension

The installation process of the extension for Chrome and Firefox does not offer secrets, occurring in a traditional way after having the application mentioned above installed. The process below was done in Chrome, but it’s pretty much the same for Firefox, having just the names of some functions or buttons exchanged. Look:

  1. Access this link to get the extension for Chrome or Firefox ;
  2. For Chrome, click “Use in Chrome”. In Firefox, click “Add to Firefox”;
  3. In the message that appears, click on “Add extension;
  4. After the process completes, an extension icon will be added to the side of the address bar. Click on it and activate your little flip to start surfing with the protection.

Ready! Now, just re-use the Internet normally, when necessary, the extension will open the Edge with this protection module.
