How to Enable Windows 10 Advanced Search for the Start Menu

A feature that is disabled in Windows 10, but it makes easy to find files directly from the Start menu. Here’s how to turn it on!

Windows 10 has pretty much changed some concepts that the Microsoft system has left intact for years, including the Start menu, which even disappeared in Windows 8. With the new changes, some tasks have become easier to do, while others are not practical.

When you try to search for a file without opening File Explorer, for example, you may have already encountered not very efficient results. Here’s how to enable the advanced search function in Windows 10 for the Start menu.

Important

This feature is not enabled by default in Windows 10 and does not pose any risk to the system. Your files also remain intact, that is, without any kind of alteration.

How to Enable Windows 10 Advanced Search for the Start Menu

The process to enable this feature of the system is very simple, and it can be deactivated at any time. Look:

  1. Press the “Win + I” keys together to open the “Settings” screen of Windows 10 and enter “Search”;
  2. From the menu on the left side of the screen, click “Searching in Windows”;
  3. Enable the “Advanced” function and wait for the files to be indexed.

Once you have enabled this function, the Start menu is looking for files all over the computer. However, it is recommended that on this same screen you configure the “Deleted Folders”, which serve to remove unwanted places from the search.

Ready! Once you have made these settings, you will be able to find any file that is on your computer from the Start menu.
