Through gesture navigations on mobile phones, some functions can be accessed more easily with small touches, eliminating the need to, for example, enter a menu just to use them. In turn, one of the last applications to implement this feature was the Google Chrome browser, which now supports gesture actions to make it easier to navigate sites.
This new function, although already available in the last version of the browser, is not yet enabled by default in it and therefore, to be used, it needs a parameter to be activated within its settings. For now, the process works only on Android and there is still no official announcement of the same for the iPhone. Here’s how to enable gesture navigation in Chrome for Android.
- Go to Google Play and make sure Chrome is up to its latest version;
- Open Chrome normally and go to chrome: // flags;
- Then look for “History navigation with a gesture” and change its value to “enabled”. After this step, tap Relaunch now.
In some versions of Google Chrome, the name of the process enabled in the last step may be different. So if this is your case, instead of searching for “History navigation with a gesture”, search for “Overscroll history navigation” or “enable gesture navigation”.
Now, when you swipe your finger anywhere on a site in Chrome, you can return to the page you were previously on. When you slide your finger to the left, you are advancing one page. If for some reason you want to disable this feature, just follow the same steps as this tutorial by changing the value of the function to “Disabled”.
