Google Chrome’s hidden feature helps you find tabs that are open. Learn how to turn it on!
When you spend hours surfing on Internet, you almost certainly end up with many tabs or tabs left in the browser, which leaves you at a loss to get back to what’s really interesting right now. To help in this scenario, fortunately, Chrome has invested in some features like creating groups for tabs, but that is not always enough in all cases.
In addition to the above-mentioned feature, Chrome also has a hidden feature that allows you to search for open tabs using your address bar. Here’s how to enable and use the tabbed search feature in Chrome.

As with some other features, this new feature of Chrome to find tabs open from a search needs to be enabled in its parameters, not being accessible at first through its conventional menus.
Enabling the tab search function in Chrome
The feature mentioned above is already available in the stable version of the browser, and although it is not activated in the most traditional way, it requires few steps to be able to use it. Check out:
- Open Chrome normally and enter the address: chrome://flags;
- Browse the list by Omnibox tab switch suggestions. Change its value to “Enabled”;
- In the message that appears, click Relaunch Now.
Once the function is activated, when opening a new tab, simply search for the desired term. Then, in the result you want to access, just click on “Switch to this tab”.
