How to display remaining time of NoteBook Battery in Windows 10

When you are using a notebook only with your battery it is important to know how much time it still has to hold your charge. Unfortunately, in Windows 10, sometimes a bug causes the system to show only the percentage of it, which does not give you an estimate of the time to be aware of the computer ending up disconnecting.

To circumvent this situation there is a change that can be made in Windows 10 to bring the time estimate back, but that is not present in the menus of the system as it is with the more traditional functions. Here’s how to make Windows 10 show the remaining battery time in the system tray.

Important

The following change is performed in the Windows 10 registry editor. Before proceeding, as usual, it is recommended that you back up your important files in order to avoid problems.

How to make Windows 10 display the remaining battery time

To perform the following procedure you must have an account with administrator privileges. In addition, if the machine is used with more than one user it will be necessary to repeat the process for each of them. Check out the process:

  1. Press the “Win + R” keys together to open the run and type: regedit. Press “Enter”;
  2. From the left menu, enter the following path: Computer \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Power;
  3. Now double-click on “EnergyEstimationDisabled”;
  4. Change its value to “0” and click “Ok”;
  5. Go back to the “Registry Editor” screen, double-click “EnergyEstimationEnabled”. If it does not appear, you’ll need to create it. This can be done with a right-click on a blank space and using the “New> DWORD (32-bit) Value” option;
  6. Set its value to “1” and click “Ok”;
  7. Restart the computer.

Ready! Now, when you hover over the battery icon next to the Windows 10 clock, you should know how much time remains until you need to put the notebook into the power outlet.
