How to Disable the Microsoft Store in Windows 10

Windows 10 was released with many new features, changing from the system interface to services that were included in it. With all these changes, many people have the problem of the disk constantly in use, which leaves the machine slow at different times of the day because of resources being rotated in the background.

One of these processes that end up leaving the disk in use is often Wsappx, which refers to some actions of the Windows Store running in the background. Here’s how to disable Windows Store processes in Windows 10.

Before proceeding with the tutorial below, please remember that the apps or games you have in Windows Store may have their operation affected by it. So it is recommended for those who do not actually use the Microsoft store and have problems with the disk being always in use.

In addition, before making any changes, create a restore point on the machine and back up your most important files.

How to Disable the Windows Store Process

By default, there is no function that disables the Windows Store, so you have to tinker with the system registry so that it stops running some of your processes. Check how to proceed:

1. Press the “Win + R” keys together and type regedit. Press “Enter”;
2. From the left menu, navigate to this path: Computer \ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ WindowsStore;
3. If the WindowsStore key does not appear, you must create it via the registry editor itself;
4. Right-click on a blank space and go to the “New> DWORD Value (32 Bits)” option;
5. Give it the name “RemoveWindowsStore”;
6. Now, double-click the created key and leave it with value “1”.

In addition to the above change, in order for the Wsappx process to stop consuming many resources, there is yet another change to be made. Look:

1. 1. Still, in the Windows Registry Editor, navigate to the path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ ControlSet001 \ Services \ AppXSvc;
   2. Double click on “Start”;
   3. Change its value to “4” and click “Ok”;
   4. Restart the computer.

After you have made all of these changes, the Wsappx process, which is responsible for the Windows Store, may continue to appear in the Task Manager. However, because you are with the Microsoft store disabled, it should not run the processes that leave your disk in use, causing the system to slow down.
