You can disable Facebook Messenger notifications on Android to prevent them from appearing on the screen when you do not want to.
Whenever you receive a new message from a contact, an icon with that friend’s profile picture will appear on the screen. This makes it easier to see when you have unread messages, but there may be times when you do not want these notifications to appear. Notifications can be very annoying if you’re in many groups and are constantly receiving new messages.
Imagine for example that you may be showing something on your smartphone to someone and you do not want photos of your friends sending you messages to appear, you may be playing or working and you do not want to interrupt or simply bought a new smartphone and want to disable those notifications that may always appear.
It is a very simple and quick definition to change for those who know where to look. These notifications with your friends’ photos are called Chat Heads and you have to change them.
For this you only have to follow these steps:
1 – Open the Facebook Messenger application on your smartphone.
2 – Tap the small thumbnail of your profile photo in the upper right corner of the window.
3 – Scroll through the options until you find the “Chat Heads” setting. Now you have to turn it off (the icon will change from blue to gray).
As you can see, it’s not complicated, there are only three simple steps. From now on no more notifications will appear with your friends’ photos.
If for any reason change of opinion just follow these same steps but in the final step turn on the option of Chat Heads instead of turning off. In this situation, the icon will change from gray to blue to confirm that it is active.
