Disable auto sync of data between different computers in Windows 10

Windows 10 has brought many new features to make life easier for those who use the system on a day-to-day basis on more than one computer. For example, one of your new functions is able to synchronize system settings so that it works the same way on another computer when using the same Microsoft account.

Although it is a useful feature in most cases, the problem is that it comes enabled by default in Windows 10 and sometimes leaves a new machine with an unwanted configuration. Here’s how to disable Windows 10 data synchronization.

Important

There are two methods available in Windows that stop your data synchronization. The first one offers no risk and is a standard Windows function. In the meantime, the second method affects the system registry and is only recommended if the first configuration does not have the necessary effect for you.

How to Disable Windows 10 Data Synchronization

As mentioned above, the first method is quite simple to do because it is a native function of Windows 10, but only appears after it has been installed. Check how to proceed:

  1. Press the “Win + I” keys together to open the Windows 10 “Settings” screen and enter “Accounts”;
  2. In the new window, click “Synchronize Settings”;
  3. Disable items that you do not want to sync or, if you prefer, uncheck the “Sync Settings” button to disable everything.

How to stop Windows 10 data synchronization by logging

Before proceeding with this second setup, it is recommended that you back up your important files to avoid any problems. That said, follow the steps:

    1. Press the “Win + R” keys together and type: regedit. Press “Enter”;
    2. From the left menu, enter the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ SettingSync \ Groups. When you get here, select one of the folders for the item you want to disable;
    3. In it, double-click on “Enabled”;]

Ready! Now, you already know how to stop data synchronization from Windows 10 to different machines.
