D-Link launches new features for your mydlink application

D-Link announces the addition of a number of new features to its mydlink app, which already exceeds five million users, by providing simpler and more intelligent tools to control and increase the security of your home, small office or store from anywhere and at any time. The free mydlink app, available for iOS and Android, allows users to control and monitor their devices linked to mydlink, video surveillance cameras, smartphone jacks, and different sensors.

The most prominent new feature is “Enhanced Notifications,” which warn users when cameras detect movement or sound (with adjustable sensitivity settings), sending a screenshot of that moment as pop-up notification, and initiating recording of video in the cloud, so that in case of theft or destruction of the camera, the user can always access the recording of what happened and download the video on your mobile device or tablet.

Enhanced pop-up notifications, as long as the user has enabled them on your phone or tablet, appear immediately, even in screen lock mode, thus preventing the user from going to the mydlink application and allowing a faster response to the incident.

Once you receive the notification with the event photo, you can perform two near-instant actions on the part of the user:

  • One-click connection to one of the user-defined emergency numbers (no need to open the contact list for your phone or tablet)
  • Access the live view of the camera. If this has been disabled, it is possible to access the recording of the video in the cloud, which was started when the motion or sound was detected. You can also download the video to the local memory of your phone or tablet.

D-Link has also introduced a number of enhancements to the tutorial of the mydlink app, which gives users access to detailed information on how to turn on all security and home automation functions, with video tutorials that can be viewed directly in the mydlink app, information about the latest functions and details on how to use them.

The mydlink application supports voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and can also interact with other devices or apps through the IFTTT platform. You can download it for free for iOS and Android.
