By default, the service even has some tools to try to adjust the content displayed, but the truth is that you always end up seeing some suggestion of a channel or subject you do not like. Fortunately, using Google Chrome or a browser that supports your extensions makes it possible to block YouTube videos and channels that are not of interest to you.
How Extension Works
The add-on to be used in Chrome does not interact or get information from your Google account at any point in time. All it does is analyze the name of channels or words present in videos so that they end up hidden from the lists displayed on the site.
How to set up and install the YouTube video blocker extension
The extension to be used in the browser is very simple to configure and only needs to be modified when you want to add new types of content to be blocked. Here’s how to proceed:
- Visit the Chrome Web Store to download YouTube Recommended Blocker ;
- In the message that appears, click on “Add extension”;
- Note that a new icon has been added next to the Chrome address bar. Click on it;
- On the page opened in Chrome, click on “Blocklist”;
- In the menu on the left side of the screen, click “Add new” Once you have filled in what you want to block, click “Add new item.”
Ready! Back on YouTube, just refresh your page so that the content defined in the extension are blocked and no longer appear in your lists. To make the content appear again, you just need to click on the extension’s icon in the browser and use the “delete” button in the term not to be blocked.
